Xmas Trampoline Buyers Guide
A Rough Guide
As a rough guide a 10ft trampoline we advise would be suitable for a single child, or two small children, with occasional adult use. A 12ft trampoline would be a good choice for a couple of children and regular use by adults and a 14ft trampoline would allow regular use by two or more children and adults. The larger the trampoline the higher the maximum trampoline jumping weight.
Before purchasing a trampoline carefully consider the space available in your garden where the trampoline is going to be made up and used.
Allow a clear area of at least 3ft around the outside of your trampoline so if children do happen to topple off then they are likely to have a safer landing then toppling onto foreign objects.
Please remember however that most trampoline manufacturers recommend the trampoline should only be used by one person at a time.
Weight & Age limitation
Although we give you simple weight & age limits for each model you must also consider experience, strength & skill too. The greater the height attained by the bouncer, the bigger the loading on the trampoline springs. So whilst someone may be technically under the maximum recommended weight for a particular trampoline, If they are very competent & fit, they could manage to overload the springs. If in doubt always buy bigger, you will not regret it.
Can the trampoline be left out all year?
Most trampolines are manufactured to left outdoors all year round and are usually constructed from galvanised steel which shouldn’t rust. Everything else is made from polypropylene or PVC materials, and rot and water proof materials. Most trampoline also come with or have covers that are available to help keep the trampoline clean and dry and help protect from the outside elements.
Spring or elastic
Elastic banded trampolines are the best if you are looking for a fun trampoline at an affordable price, where as a metal sprung trampolines is generally a little bit more expensive and usually offer a higher bounce. The springs or elastic bands are the flexible attachments between the rebounding surface and the steel frame that provide resistance and added flexibility and strength to the rebounding surface. The spring tension determines the springiness and elasticity of the rebounding surface. The greater the spring tension, the stiffer the bounce off the rebounding surface will be.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes, there is a maximum user weight on all chosen trampolines so make sure you check this when making your decision. The springs, frame and bouncing surface can only withstand a certain amount of force and this determines the maximum user weight. A force applied above the maximum user weight can cause damage’s and failure of certain Trampoline parts. Going over the maximum user weight can also cause hitting the ground before reaching the lowest point of your bounce. If you intent to allow more than one child to bounce together remember to total up their weight and check the trampoline will withstand both children’s weight.

Having Fun With Jumpking Trampoline Mats
If you are a Jumpking trampoline owner you have probably wondered, while either you were jumping or as you were watching the children bounce on the trampoline mats, when trampolines were invented. Back in 1930, as a young boy from Iowa watched a circus act he was impressed by the aerial acrobatics that were done. One thing that left a lasting impression on his mind was the net below these acrobats that they would bounce into and spring back up from during their act. Unable to shake this image from his mind George Nissen decided to invent his own version of this bouncing net.
After he finished college, Nissen invented the trampoline mat using tent grade canvas tightly stretched on a welded frame. Originally it was called a ‘jump rig’ instead of calling it a trampoline mat. It wasn’t until after World War II and after Nissen had gotten together with a couple of business partners that he took a trip to Mexico. It was on this trip that he heard someone calling a diving board, “el trampolin” when he decided to adapt this name to his new invention and patent the trampoline.
Since that day trampoline mats have came a long way. Currently the material used for most trampoline mats is a black polypropylene. This material has little air resistance because of the way it is woven. Due to this lack of air resistance it has a cushioned or ‘springy’ feeling that allows it to be bounced upon. One of the most enjoyed forms of exercise that can be done in just about any creative style is jumping on a trampoline.
Padded mats can be placed around the edges of the trampoline as an increased safety feature. Originally trampolines did not come with this safety feature. Since trampolines came from the idea of safety nets you would expect that some form of jumper/user safety features would be implemented.
In recent years not only have trampolines included padded mats, these also include a caged area to keep the jumper from falling off. While many envision multiple children bouncing on their JumpKing trampoline in the backyard, these really are created for use by one child at a time. For safety reasons putting multiple children on at once is a really bad idea.
The enclosures that are available for trampolines and the padded trampoline safety mats that cover the bars and the springs make trampoline use safer than it was 20 years ago. Broken arms and missing teeth no longer have to happen as long as these safety features have been installed correctly.

While the trampoline can stay outdoors during all types of weather, it is important to remember not to use the trampoline if the mat is wet. Trampoline mats can become very slippery when they are wet and can be dangerous to the user.
Yet another obvious safety rule that is often overlooked is not jumping while wearing shoes or belt buckles that may damage the trampoline mat. Since this mat is the only thing keeping you from plummeting to the ground it is a good idea to keep it in one piece. Sharp objects such as cowboy boot heels and belt buckles can easily tear a large opening into the trampoline mat.
When damage happens there are some companies that can repair the damage, but it’s generally a better idea to replace the trampoline mat once it is damaged. When replacing your trampoline mat you no longer have to go with the old and boring black traveling mats since a variety of colors are now available.
With the ability to hold 800 pounds of pressure per square inch, it’s not only the colors that are amazing. There isn’t a more enjoyable exercise for the family than a trampoline; it’s like having a circus in your backyard.

The Backyard Trampoline
Trampolines are a fun way to keep fit and get regular exercise. For children, a trampoline can be an exiting form of play. There are many different sizes and styles available. When choosing a backyard trampoline it is important to consider what size and shape trampoline will suit your backyard.
Different Types of Trampolines
There are three main types of trampolines available and they all come in varying sizes. There is a size and shape for everyone. The three types are:
*Round
This design is made to keep the person who is jumping in the center of the trampoline. This style is ideal for younger children, especially if a guard is used to stop falls.
* Rectangular
This design offers more area to jump on. The springs are also a lot more flexible which enables the person using the trampoline to jump higher. This type of trampoline is ideal for teenagers and is favored by professional trampoline jumpers and gymnasts.
*Square
This design is a lot like the rectangular trampoline but will not allow as high a bounce. The square trampoline is also a lot smaller. This is another good backyard option if there are smaller children using it.
It is recommended all trampolines that are being used by smaller children have proper guards and padding on the springs, and that adult supervision be provided for safety reasons. Also it is advisable that trampolines not be bounced on when the jumping mat is wet since the mat can become very slippery.
The Cost of a Trampoline
Trampolines vary in cost a great deal depending on the size and style. For a smaller, round backyard type without guards you could pay as little as $200. If you are looking for a trampoline that is a lot larger, for instance, a rectangular style, you could expect to pay up to $1,800. Prices will vary from store to store so the best thing to do when looking to buy a trampoline, is research different prices. Have a clear budget on how much you intend to spend. Choose a trampoline that fits your backyard and your budget.
What to Look For
The most important things to look for in a trampoline are:
*Structure
Make sure the structure of your trampoline is sturdy and, preferably, aluminum, so that it is not too heavy to move around should you need to.
*Quality mats are also very important.
A badly made trampoline mat can cause serious injury to a person if they were to fall through it.
*Added safety measures
It is important to make note of the companies that will either give you a discount on guards or padding for the springs or will give them to you as a packaged deal. Safety comes first!
*Warranties
Make sure your trampoline is covered by a warranty for faulty workmanship and badly made parts.
*Weight requirements
Make note of the maximum weight that the trampoline will hold as children often like to jump together or in groups.
Conclusion
There are many types of backyard trampolines available. Look around and find the best trampoline to suit your needs and your budget. Define exactly what you are looking for, such as who will be using the trampoline. Make sure the size and style will be suitable. If you are on a budget, it is advisable to look around and buy a trampoline that is on sale rather than ‘cheap’. Don’t sacrifice quality to save a few dollars, it is usually not worth it in the long run.

Trampolines For Exercise Benefits
There are many means and ways of exercise, and here we shall examine one of the best and fastest ways to improve ones health in many ways at once, the trampoline.
For many people, the thought of a trampoline conjures up images of acrobats and playing children. While exercise trampolines are smaller and used for different purposes, this image is a good one. Think again of these acrobats and playing children, and think about how fit they are, how their hearts are pumping more efficiently than the kids sitting in front of the television. These same benefits are available to adults who use a trampoline for exercise for a brief period every day, and the results might even be surprising.
When thinking of exercise, one typically thinks first of weight loss. While this is certainly a positive effect of exercise, it is far from the only one, and perhaps not the most significant one either. With trampoline exercise in particular, there are numerous positive effects on the body, and on the mind as well.
Trampoline exercise provides a simple and enjoyable way to help rid the body of toxins and improve the circulatory system. Like all aerobic exercise, trampoline jumping helps to speed up the heart rate and increases the amount of oxygen that saturates the blood with each pump of the heart. This helps with breathing as well. By helping to cleanse the body, trampoline jumping helps to boost the immune system, fighting off the germs and illnesses we are exposed to on a frequent basis. Trampolines are also easier on the joints than most forms of exercise. In addition to all of these benefits, trampoline jumping provides an excellent solution for people who feel that they simply do not have the time to exercise, as 15 minutes of trampoline exercise is the equivalent to 40 minutes of jogging. Because exercise trampolines are small, they can be kept in virtually any room in the house, which means not only can you exercise at any time, but unlike jogging and other outdoor activities, you can exercise in any weather.
In addition to its effects on the body, trampoline exercise has many positive effects on the mind as well. It is fun and enjoyable, which helps to eliminate stress. By exerting the body, you use up excess energy, which can help restore restful sleep and relaxation. As with all exercise, it also releases endorphins, which are well known to help reduce and eliminate depression. In addition to this comes weight loss and physical health, which improve one’s self-esteem.
In conclusion, trampoline exercise has many benefits. It is fun, safe, and a relatively easy way to greatly improve one’s physical and mental health. It can be done alone or with family or friends to help keep you motivated as well as entertained. It is also inexpensive and can be done from home, which makes it a viable alternative for people who do not have access to, time for, or the desire to join a gym. In a world where exercise is becoming a dire necessity, it is helpful to have a method that is both fun and effective, such as an exercise trampoline.

Setting Up A Trampoline
Congrats on purchasing a Trampoline. It is a wonderful workout and a lot of fun. How can one set up a Trampoline? The first step is simple and easy. First, take everything out of the box and make sure you have all the parts.
Now you can begin to determine where to set up the trampoline. It is important to find the most level ground you can find before you start building it because it can be very difficult to move once it is fully constructed, especially the larger trampolines. Identify the legs of the trampoline first. Usually they are some of the shortest pieces with a right angle bend. Set these pieces aside.
Next, peruse through the parts to find long tubes with a couple holes at the terminal. Depending on the size of the trampoline, they may vary in size and quantity but they usually have a curve in them and most often are found in quantities of six to eight pieces within the trampoline set that was bought.
Take the long pieces you’ve just uncovered and pair each one with a leg. Once you’ve paired all the pieces, you’ll need to assemble them together to create the frame of the trampoline. You’ll want to apply a great deal of pressure when building the frame. When you hear each piece snap together, you’ll know the frame is sturdy.
Enlist the help of several people with strong muscles to help you put on the springs and stretch it over the net. The best way to tackle this is by attaching one spring at a time and pulling the net over it immediately afterward. I am sure a springfree trampoline is made, but I am not aware of any company that makes or sells them.
If you have the unfortunate task of being forced to set up the trampoline on sloping or lumpy ground, extra care should be used when constructing the trampoline. It is really not recommended at all for the trampoline to be used on uneven ground, but if you tend to go against the rules anyway, be sure to be observant of your surroundings.
How do I set up a trampoline on uneven ground? Look around be safe. You can use boards to support the legs of the trampoline. Or heavy blocks or bricks even. But be sure to keep safety in mind, or someone just may get hurt. Or you can shorten the legs.
If you are still looking for other options for constructing your trampoline on uneven land then you can try digging holes in the ground. By digging a hole and placing the ground supports into them, it will even out the trampoline. Concrete could also be used to fill in the holes if you want to make the trampoline a more permanent fixture.
Trampolines can provide people with a lot of enjoyment. You can have contests with your friends on who can jump the highest, do the best flip, or who can jump the longest. This can provide you and your friends with hours of enjoyment. Workouts can also be done on a trampoline and this is a way to exercise in a fun way.

Basic Trampoline Tricks
If you own a trampoline, you already know that it is a great way to get out of the house, and into the fresh air. Did you also know that it’s benefiting your health? Jumping up and down on a trampoline is great for strengthening the cardio-vascular system and it is also an excellent workout for almost every muscle and organ of the body. Exercising on a trampoline can also be very helpful for adults and children because it helps to improve reflexes, flexibility, balance and coordination.
One way to enhance not only the fun aspect of the trampoline, but also increase the health benefits, is by putting a little extra effort into your jumping by doing some tricks! There’s lot of tricks that can done on the trampoline, from the beginner level to the advanced. Here’s a few of them beginning with some basics including additional tips to ensure safety and avoid injury.
‘Landing on the Back’ is one of the first, basic trampoline tricks any bouncer should learn and its very simple. Stand motionless on the trampoline with your arms at your sides or even with your hands in your front pockets. Fall backwards onto the trampoline, keeping your body straight and your head up. As your back meets the trampoline, let your head meet it naturally too, don’t jerk or twist it. You will bounce back up and then you can do it again, over and over until you achieve a good rebounding height. The more you practice this trick, the higher you will bounce back and forth!

Here’s an intermediate trampoline trick you can do once you’ve master the basic Back Landing trick. Begin the same way, standing straight and motionless, with arms at your sides or hands in your pockets. Fall straight back again, but when you bounce back up, land on your knees instead! The motion will keep sending you back and forth so you can repeat the trick as many times as you want.
Some advanced trampoline tricks include somersaults and flips. Either of these can be done backwards or forwards, but you should be very comfortable and confident with your bouncing abilities before attempting either of them. Once you’ve got the flip down, you spice it up by adding a spin to it.
Before attempting any trick, ensure everyone’s safety, including your own. Remember to look around and see how much room you have. You will definitely want to avoid a collision with any other jumpers that are on the trampoline with you. To further prevent any mishaps, warm up first by doing some simple bounces and once you get going, remember to keep your head and neck in a natural position. This way you don’t hurt yourself.
Have fun, be safe and keep on bouncing!

Encouraging Safe Trampoline Play
Do you wish that your children would spend more time playing outdoors, rather than being sat indoors in front of the television or a games console? Many parents would like to encourage their kids to lead a more active, healthy lifestyle.
But is it something that can be achieved? Or is it the case that outdoor games are doomed to be seen as dull and boring when compared to the new technologies? This is a question that I frequently find myself being asked.
The answer is that it can sometimes be difficult to persuade kids to give up the video games but that it’s really a question of parental persuasion. If you’re prepared to spend the time showing your children exactly how much fun can be had playing outdoors, then you’ll soon be able to convince them.
It’s also a great feeling when your children actually start wanting to play outdoors more by choice. It means that they will be getting exercise without you desperately having to force them off their games consoles!
Are trampolines the best way to encourage outdoor play? They’re certainly one way that can work – that’s because they provide a lot of fun, as well as being a very active form of play. An added bonus is that they can often be used by the whole family.
One aspect that it’s important to consider is the safety of your children. One advantage that trampolines offer is that they can be used in your own garden, ensuring a safer environment. But how about when your kids come to use the trampoline?
Depending on their height and the size of the trampoline, you may want to make use of some small ladders to help them climb on and off. These are standard accessories and are available from many online retailers.
You may also want to erect an enclosure around the sides of the trampoline. This can help by making sure that they don’t topple off – it gives you that extra layer of safely.
If you make use of the various safety features there’s no reason why a trampoline can’t provide a great amount of fun for the whole family. You’ll also be helping to make sure that your kids get a higher level of exercise.
Trampolines and accessories are currently being sold by a number of UK retailers. You can compare prices online using specialist price comparison websites.
