Having Fun With Jumpking Trampoline Mats

Having Fun With Jumpking Trampoline MatsIf you are a Jumpking trampoline owner you have probably wondered, while either you were jumping or as you were watching the children bounce on the trampoline mats, when trampolines were invented. Back in 1930, as a young boy from Iowa watched a circus act he was impressed by the aerial acrobatics that were done. One thing that left a lasting impression on his mind was the net below these acrobats that they would bounce into and spring back up from during their act. Unable to shake this image from his mind George Nissen decided to invent his own version of this bouncing net.

After he finished college, Nissen invented the trampoline mat using tent grade canvas tightly stretched on a welded frame. Originally it was called a ‘jump rig’ instead of calling it a trampoline mat. It wasn’t until after World War II and after Nissen had gotten together with a couple of business partners that he took a trip to Mexico. It was on this trip that he heard someone calling a diving board, “el trampolin” when he decided to adapt this name to his new invention and patent the trampoline.

Since that day trampoline mats have came a long way. Currently the material used for most trampoline mats is a black polypropylene. This material has little air resistance because of the way it is woven. Due to this lack of air resistance it has a cushioned or ‘springy’ feeling that allows it to be bounced upon. One of the most enjoyed forms of exercise that can be done in just about any creative style is jumping on a trampoline.

Padded mats can be placed around the edges of the trampoline as an increased safety feature. Originally trampolines did not come with this safety feature. Since trampolines came from the idea of safety nets you would expect that some form of jumper/user safety features would be implemented.

In recent years not only have trampolines included padded mats, these also include a caged area to keep the jumper from falling off. While many envision multiple children bouncing on their JumpKing trampoline in the backyard, these really are created for use by one child at a time. For safety reasons putting multiple children on at once is a really bad idea.

The enclosures that are available for trampolines and the padded trampoline safety mats that cover the bars and the springs make trampoline use safer than it was 20 years ago. Broken arms and missing teeth no longer have to happen as long as these safety features have been installed correctly.

Having Fun With Jumpking Trampoline Mats

While the trampoline can stay outdoors during all types of weather, it is important to remember not to use the trampoline if the mat is wet. Trampoline mats can become very slippery when they are wet and can be dangerous to the user.

Yet another obvious safety rule that is often overlooked is not jumping while wearing shoes or belt buckles that may damage the trampoline mat. Since this mat is the only thing keeping you from plummeting to the ground it is a good idea to keep it in one piece. Sharp objects such as cowboy boot heels and belt buckles can easily tear a large opening into the trampoline mat.

When damage happens there are some companies that can repair the damage, but it’s generally a better idea to replace the trampoline mat once it is damaged. When replacing your trampoline mat you no longer have to go with the old and boring black traveling mats since a variety of colors are now available.

With the ability to hold 800 pounds of pressure per square inch, it’s not only the colors that are amazing. There isn’t a more enjoyable exercise for the family than a trampoline; it’s like having a circus in your backyard.

The Backyard Trampoline

The Backyard TrampolineTrampolines are a fun way to keep fit and get regular exercise. For children, a trampoline can be an exiting form of play. There are many different sizes and styles available. When choosing a backyard trampoline it is important to consider what size and shape trampoline will suit your backyard.

Different Types of Trampolines

There are three main types of trampolines available and they all come in varying sizes. There is a size and shape for everyone. The three types are:

*Round

This design is made to keep the person who is jumping in the center of the trampoline. This style is ideal for younger children, especially if a guard is used to stop falls.

* Rectangular

This design offers more area to jump on. The springs are also a lot more flexible which enables the person using the trampoline to jump higher. This type of trampoline is ideal for teenagers and is favored by professional trampoline jumpers and gymnasts.

*Square

This design is a lot like the rectangular trampoline but will not allow as high a bounce. The square trampoline is also a lot smaller. This is another good backyard option if there are smaller children using it.

It is recommended all trampolines that are being used by smaller children have proper guards and padding on the springs, and that adult supervision be provided for safety reasons. Also it is advisable that trampolines not be bounced on when the jumping mat is wet since the mat can become very slippery.

The Backyard TrampolineThe Cost of a Trampoline

Trampolines vary in cost a great deal depending on the size and style. For a smaller, round backyard type without guards you could pay as little as $200. If you are looking for a trampoline that is a lot larger, for instance, a rectangular style, you could expect to pay up to $1,800. Prices will vary from store to store so the best thing to do when looking to buy a trampoline, is research different prices. Have a clear budget on how much you intend to spend. Choose a trampoline that fits your backyard and your budget.

What to Look For

The most important things to look for in a trampoline are:

*Structure

Make sure the structure of your trampoline is sturdy and, preferably, aluminum, so that it is not too heavy to move around should you need to.

*Quality mats are also very important.

A badly made trampoline mat can cause serious injury to a person if they were to fall through it.

*Added safety measures

It is important to make note of the companies that will either give you a discount on guards or padding for the springs or will give them to you as a packaged deal. Safety comes first!

*Warranties

Make sure your trampoline is covered by a warranty for faulty workmanship and badly made parts.

*Weight requirements

Make note of the maximum weight that the trampoline will hold as children often like to jump together or in groups.

Conclusion

There are many types of backyard trampolines available. Look around and find the best trampoline to suit your needs and your budget. Define exactly what you are looking for, such as who will be using the trampoline. Make sure the size and style will be suitable. If you are on a budget, it is advisable to look around and buy a trampoline that is on sale rather than ‘cheap’. Don’t sacrifice quality to save a few dollars, it is usually not worth it in the long run.

Investing in a Quality Trampoline Pad

Investing in a Quality Trampoline Pad

Trampoline exercises are in the rage right now because of the various health benefits that one can get from them. Jumping up and down a trampoline not only is fun, but it improves muscle tone, coordination and blood circulation. But despite all of these benefits, many shy away or even fear trampolines because they look dangerous. While it is true that being suspended in the air for a few seconds makes you vulnerable, there is nothing to fear. Although there are several accessories that amp the safety of your trampoline, there is one overlooked safety feature that automatically comes with it – the trampoline pad.

Trampoline pads are foam coverings that are found lining the circumference or perimeter of your trampoline. These pads are what cover the metal frame from which the springs that hold the trampoline mat emanate. Well-made pads are most frequently made of thick and durable foam and are covered by a stretchable canvas to protect it. The primary purpose of a trampoline pad is to cover the metal frame and the springs to protect the user from injuring himself. It is very dangerous for one to jump up and down a trampoline mat surrounded by metal frames and springs, and so trampoline pads are used to avoid bruises, wounds and other injuries that may arise from hitting these metal parts.

Investing in a Quality Trampoline Pad

There are many variants of pads available in the market, ranging from the expensive kinds to the cheap ones. Since this is a security and safety feature of the trampoline, it is very important that one consider the quality of the pad for your trampoline. You have to consider the pad’s thickness, resilience and durability because poorly made ones can jeopardize the user’s safety.  Do not be fazed by the price; it is better to be suspicious if the pad’s price is too cheap. High quality trampoline pads are supposed to have thick, heavy and closed-cell foams to give it that ultimate protective capability. It should also be resilient and weather-proof, most especially if your trampoline is an outdoor one. Make sure that the pad that you are getting is compatible with your whole trampoline.

Always remember that even well-made trampoline pads break down when not taken care of properly. Therefore it is important that you take care and maintain of the trampoline pad to increase its longevity. There are special cleaners and accessories available in the market that would help you do this job for you. Taking care of your trampoline is equivalent to taking care of your family’s fun and safety.

Setting Up A Trampoline

Setting Up A TrampolineCongrats on purchasing a Trampoline. It is a wonderful workout and a lot of fun. How can one set up a Trampoline? The first step is simple and easy. First, take everything out of the box and make sure you have all the parts.

Now you can begin to determine where to set up the trampoline. It is important to find the most level ground you can find before you start building it because it can be very difficult to move once it is fully constructed, especially the larger trampolines. Identify the legs of the trampoline first. Usually they are some of the shortest pieces with a right angle bend. Set these pieces aside.

Next, peruse through the parts to find long tubes with a couple holes at the terminal. Depending on the size of the trampoline, they may vary in size and quantity but they usually have a curve in them and most often are found in quantities of six to eight pieces within the trampoline set that was bought.

Take the long pieces you’ve just uncovered and pair each one with a leg. Once you’ve paired all the pieces, you’ll need to assemble them together to create the frame of the trampoline. You’ll want to apply a great deal of pressure when building the frame. When you hear each piece snap together, you’ll know the frame is sturdy.

Enlist the help of several people with strong muscles to help you put on the springs and stretch it over the net. The best way to tackle this is by attaching one spring at a time and pulling the net over it immediately afterward. I am sure a springfree trampoline is made, but I am not aware of any company that makes or sells them.

Setting Up A TrampolineIf you have the unfortunate task of being forced to set up the trampoline on sloping or lumpy ground, extra care should be used when constructing the trampoline. It is really not recommended at all for the trampoline to be used on uneven ground, but if you tend to go against the rules anyway, be sure to be observant of your surroundings.

How do I set up a trampoline on uneven ground? Look around be safe. You can use boards to support the legs of the trampoline. Or heavy blocks or bricks even. But be sure to keep safety in mind, or someone just may get hurt. Or you can shorten the legs.

If you are still looking for other options for constructing your trampoline on uneven land then you can try digging holes in the ground. By digging a hole and placing the ground supports into them, it will even out the trampoline. Concrete could also be used to fill in the holes if you want to make the trampoline a more permanent fixture.

Trampolines can provide people with a lot of enjoyment. You can have contests with your friends on who can jump the highest, do the best flip, or who can jump the longest. This can provide you and your friends with hours of enjoyment. Workouts can also be done on a trampoline and this is a way to exercise in a fun way.

Trampoline Pad

Trampoline PadThe trampoline pad is a vital part of the trampoline, unless you want your flabby thighs to get caught in the springs! Seriously, though, it protects the jumpers and makes the trampoline less of an eye sore.

A trampoline basically consists of a frame, a pad, a mat and springs. The trampoline pad is essential to the safety of the jumpers. Trampoline pads vary in sizes and shapes to go with the size and shape of the frame. That’s all well and good when you buy your trampoline pad with the frame as a new trampoline, but what if you need to get a replacement pad? Always check with your trampoline’s manufacturer to get the same pad that came with your original trampoline.

What do you look for in a trampoline pad? A good pad should be of the highest quality. You definitely don’t want to skimp on the pad, as that is what will protect the jumpers from the springs and the edge of the frame. It should be made of a high density closed cell foam, to be water and mildew resistant. That will help it last longer outdoors, and it will not lose its shape with time and wear. Be sure to check the thickness and weight of the pad to make sure it covers your springs.

Your trampoline mat is even more critical than the pad. This is the part that supports the jumper. It should be strong and sturdy, with a burst strength of at least 800 pounds per square inch. Trampoline mats are typically sewn with eight rows of heavy-duty UV resistant thread and galvanized triangular v-rings for strength and durability.

Trampoline Pad

The springs are the main part that gives your trampoline its bounce. It is important to check the length of the spring, because the longer the spring, the higher the bounce. Trampoline springs are measured from hook to hook. They should be checked regularly, as loose, overstretched or damaged springs need immediate replacement in order to avoid major injuries to jumpers.

When you’re looking at buying a trampoline, especially a used one, you need to inspect the pad, mat and springs very carefully to make sure they are not too worn or at all damaged. Even when buying a new trampoline, these critical parts need to be inspected thoroughly. Test the trampoline if you can, and if you can’t, make sure it has been tested by the company selling it. Check the warranty, as any good trampoline will come with a good warranty that will cover any damages from the manufacturing process.

A trampoline is a great exercise tool. It can help you lift your spirits and mood by giving you a great workout. Trampoline jumping can be a great family activity as well. If you want an individual workout, get a mini trampoline that you can jump on indoors. Most importantly, keep your trampoline in good repair and follow all safety guidelines.

Water Trampolines

Normally when you think of a trampoline you don’t picture one in the middle of your favorite lake, but that is exactly where you are likely to see one this next summer. They are called, appropriately, water trampolines and their popularity with the younger generation is rising at an incredible rate.

water trampoline

So what exactly is a water trampoline?

Picture, if you will, a large floating rubber donut up to 25 feet (8 meters) in diameter, the donut part filled with air, and floating in your favorite lake or swimming hole. In the middle, and on top, of this large inner tube the manufacturer puts a large round trampoline mat. So the fully functional trampoline is suspended several feet above the surface of the water and the edges of the trampoline mat are attached to the large rubber donut.

Ever since the popularity of water parks at hotel resorts and theme parks went through the roof, recreation companies have been trying to find a way or product to get kids back into the water at their local lake or river. Water parks and slides are incredibly fun for kids, but they are expensive to build and maintain and there just are not enough out there to keep up with demand. If a family lives in a small town, they often have to drive a day or more to get the kids to a water park. Even then, the incredible crowds and long waiting lines detract significantly from the fun factor.

The answer to this problem may very well be a water trampoline. It combines the fun factor of water sports with the fun and exercise of jumping up and down on a trampoline. It is safe, and probably keeps the kids closer to home and the family. With the incredible number of attachments you can add to a water trampoline, you can make your own personal water park. You can add dive towers, water slides, stairs and plastic logs to climb up on; and even plastic landing platforms so you can launch yourself off the trampoline and land on the landing platform instead of the water.

They are almost completely made out of PVC plastic, so there are no metal frames or exposed springs to bang into if the kids get over-exuberant on the trampoline. They range in size from a small one of about 10 feet in diameter all the way up to the big 25 foot ones.

Of course, you can’t blow one of these up with air by hand. You have to get a separate air pump to fill one of these monsters. The big ones tend to be expensive, so they may be something that a small town would buy for its swimming beach, rather than for personal use. But certainly if you want one, you can buy one.

The small 10-foot water trampolines are generally about $500 to $600 US without accessories. The 25 footers, however, are usually in the $4000 range; again without accessories. They all generally take less than an hour to set up or take apart. Once your water trampoline is in position, you simply anchor it to the bottom of the lake so it doesn’t float away and you and the kids are all set for hours of incredible fun.

The two main types of basketball trampolines are the traditional rectangle type that has a basket on each end. This type comes in a variety of models and some might even have a partition in the middle. These basketball types of trampolines are usually professional quality and very expensive.

The other type of trampolines for sale that might be offered at a better price are regular round trampolines that have a basketball attachment. They are an enclosed trampoline similar in style to a regular kids trampoline but you can play basketball on them.

These regular trampolines can be called a rebounder or fun jumper as well. You will find these for sale at a variety of retail store, but you may have to purchase the basketball accessory separately.

Pricing

The sale price of your trampoline is an important aspect of your purchase. You don’t want to spend more money buying trampolines than you have to. Shop around and look for the best price when you buy a trampoline. Don’t settle for the first store that offers the type of trampoline that you are looking for. Instead keep a log of the prices at different stores and even consider looking online for a better price.

Using the Internet to your advantage

The Internet is a great place to find good deals on trampolines of all types and you can often get specials for discounted and free delivery. If you are interested in a large basketball type trampoline the Internet may be your only source for one. You might also consider asking around at amusement parks and other similar fun places.

If you find a place that is offering trampoline basketball, be sure to ask where they purchased their trampoline. The one they own may be fairly old, but the company is likely still around and probably selling even better basketball type trampolines. Again, use the internet to your advantage when searching for a good trampoline store.

It is important to only play basketball on a trampoline that has an enclosure around it. SLAM ONLINE | Game Notes: Hawks at Sixers

At the end of the 1st, Sixers dancers are brought out and each take a turn running across court, and with the help of a trampoline, attempting to dunk the basketball. Not surprisingly, the crowd was enthralled (at least the males).I always find the “behind the scenes” stuff in these game notes most interesting. Pretty funny that Joe Johnson wouldn’t name another player. Man, I’m sad that Thad You8ng went down, he was really coming into his own.

The insane joy of playing Orbitz games

I like it better when it was called curling. In another game, Dunkin’ Mascots, you have to jump on a trampoline and dunk a basketball. This takes fef the brain power of a potato. Here are my top five favorite Orbitz games: 1. Shuffleboard. Because in some ways, shoving a family member down an icy street sounds oddly pleasing. (I guess it depends on which family member.) And you were absolutely right to tag this post with ‘dorkiness.’
